  1. HomeDoor 1.2 eval Release Notes

  3. This is an evaluation version of HomeDoor.  You may evaluate HomeDoor for 60 days, or through May 1, 1997, whichever occurs first.  To purchase HomeDoor, please check http://www.opendoor.com/homedoor/ or call Open Door Networks at (541)488-4127.

  5. Ñ HomeDoor 1.2 includes the following changes from the previous version (1.1.1):

  7. - A log file has been added which logs all accesses to virtual domains administered by HomeDoor.  Logging can be disabled if desired through HomeDoor Admin.
  8. - Changes to HomeDoor's configuration take effect immediately upon being written out, and no longer require the Mac to be restarted.
  9. - HomeDoor no longer responds to IP addresses within its address range which have no URL explicitly specified.  This feature allows for discontiguous address ranges, since HomeDoor will only respond to those addresses which have URLs entered.  All addresses supported by HomeDoor, however, must still reside within HomeDoor's IP address range, which is still limited to 256 addresses in size.
  10. - The "default URL" feature of HomeDoor has been eliminated (to enable discontiguous address support).  See the section on discontiguous addresses in the Reference section of the Users' Guide if you were using this feature.
  11. - HomeDoor can be turned on and off through HomeDoor Admin.
  12. - The process of upgrading to a new version of HomeDoor is now easier and clearer.
  13. - A bug was fixed where HomeDoor would not respond correctly to HTTP HEAD requests, used by certain robots.

  15. Ñ HomeDoor 1.2 continues to not run on the same machine as the following:

  18. - Apple IP Gateway

  21. Ñ If you are upgrading from a previous release of HomeDoor and wish to maintain your current configuration, perform the following operations:
  22.  
  23. (1) Before copying the new HomeDoor extension into your system folder, with the old extension still installed, run the new HomeDoor Admin.
  24. (2) When asked, answer "Yes" to the question about keeping your previous extension data.  Your previous configuration will then be loaded into HomeDoor Admin.
  25. (3) With HomeDoor Admin still running, replace the previous HomeDoor extension with the new one, as instructed.
  26. (4) Hit the "Write" button to write out the configuraiton to the new extension.
  27. (5) Restart the Mac to load the new version of HomeDoor.
